NOAA and Microsoft have formed a formal partnership to harness Microsoft’s cloud computing tools and help advance NOAA’s mission to create a Climate-Ready Nation. The new Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) will allow NOAA scientists and engineers to increase NOAA’s ability to predict climate weather and ocean changes.
Under this CRADA, EPIC and Microsoft will work together to “implement pilot projects to effectively enable earth system modeling and research using Microsoft Azure, a public cloud computing platform. This project will support the EPIC goal of accelerating innovative contributions from across the weather enterprise, which includes government, academia and private industry.”
