CADRE-EPIC Data Assimilation Training

Event Date: June 4-6, 2025

The Consortium for Advanced Data Assimilation Research and Education (CADRE), in partnership with the NOAA Earth Prediction Innovation Center (EPIC), will host a data assimilation training event on June 4-6, 2025, at Colorado State University. Details of the training event can be found on this website. If you know others who might be interested, please feel free to forward the opportunity.

This training event particularly encourages participants from the following groups to attend:

  • Students
  • Early career professionals
  • Mid-career professionals
  • General public

Participant Requirements:

  • Participants must bring their own laptops. Computers will not be provided.
  • Relevant background reading(s) will be provided in advance, and participants are expected to complete them prior to the day’s events.
  • Participants should have basic familiarity with Linux operating systems.
  • Prior basic understanding of computer programming, statistics, and some linear algebra is recommended.
  • Some experience with atmospheric or earth system phenomena and predictability is helpful, but not required.
  • No prior experience and/or knowledge in data assimilation (DA) is necessary.

Outcomes:

  • Promote community DA Research
  • Train the next generation of DA scientists
  • Gain experience with the UFS-JEDI application
