A new Data Assimilation Consortium will help improve the accuracy of numerical weather predictions using the UFS. The collaboration, which brings together six U.S. universities, will harness an investment of $6.6M to advance data assimilation science and technology in the UFS. The consortium will foster collaboration, student training and an exchange of expertise between NOAA and the Joint Center for Satellite Data Assimilation, and the Transatlantic Data Science Academy launched by UK Met Office and NOAA in August 2023.
