In recognition of the Year of Open Science, NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) and EPIC (Earth Prediction Innovation Center) have been highlighted on Open.Science.gov for the collaborative and open science work on the Unified Forecast System (UFS).
EPIC is one of the programs that is managed under the Weather Program Office and is at the core of NOAA’s vision and mission to advance NOAA’s numerical weather prediction systems through a collaboration with the Weather Enterprise. NOAA launched EPIC in partnership with the Weather Enterprise (academia, government, and industry). EPIC, mandated by Congress in 2018, is the catalyst to drive a collaborative weather research community to enhance the UFS.
This is the first time a project by NOAA has been featured on Open.Science.gov.
