CADRE-EPIC Data Assimilation Training

Event Date: June 4-6, 2025

The Consortium for Advanced Data Assimilation Research and Education (CADRE), in partnership with the NOAA Earth Prediction Innovation Center (EPIC), will be hosting a data assimilation training event from June 4-6, 2025, at Colorado State University. A detailed agenda for the training event can be found on the CADRE-EPIC Data Assimilation Training Workshop website.  Feel free to share this opportunity with anyone who might be interested.

This training event particularly encourages participants from the following groups to attend:

  • Students
  • Early career professionals
  • Mid-career professionals
  • General public

Participant Requirements:

  • Participants must bring their own laptops. Computers will not be provided.
  • Relevant background reading(s) will be provided in advance, and participants are expected to complete them prior to the day’s events.
  • Participants should have basic familiarity with Linux operating systems.
  • Prior basic understanding of computer programming, statistics, and some linear algebra is recommended.
  • Some experience with atmospheric or earth system phenomena and predictability is helpful, but not required.
  • No prior experience and/or knowledge in data assimilation (DA) is necessary.

Outcomes:

  • Promote community DA Research
  • Train the next generation of DA scientists
  • Gain experience with the UFS-JEDI application
