
CADRE-EPIC Data Assimilation Training
Event Date: June 4-6, 2025
The Consortium for Advanced Data Assimilation Research and Education (CADRE), in partnership with the NOAA Earth Prediction Innovation Center (EPIC), will be hosting a data assimilation training event from June 4-6, 2025, at Colorado State University. This training event particularly encourages participants from the following groups to attend:
- Students
- Early career professionals
- Mid-career professionals
- General public
Participant Requirements:
- Participants must bring their own laptops. Computers will not be provided.
- Relevant background reading(s) will be provided in advance, and participants are expected to complete them prior to the day’s events.
- Participants should have basic familiarity with Linux operating systems.
- Prior basic understanding of computer programming, statistics, and some linear algebra is recommended.
- Some experience with atmospheric or earth system phenomena and predictability is helpful, but not required.
- No prior experience and/or knowledge in data assimilation (DA) is necessary.
Outcomes:
- Promote community DA Research
- Train the next generation of DA scientists
- Gain experience with the UFS-JEDI application
