About EPIC
Accelerating advances in our nation’s
operational forecast modeling systems

EPIC will continually inform and accelerate advances in our nation’s operational forecast modeling systems.

The Unified Forecast System (UFS) Community is creating a new experience for scientists, joining forces for the benefit of life.

The EPIC Program and Virtual Center will deliver world-class numerical weather prediction systems supporting NOAA.

Find out who we are and what we do. Run the UFS. Join us now!

EPIC will provide comprehensive user support services to enable a broad and vibrant community of UFS users and developers. User support services will nurture a collaborative, community-based framework to support, advise and educate developers and software users.

The UFS Community and EPIC Program

NOAA is using a community modeling framework to develop their operational modeling systems. The Unified Forecast System (UFS) is composed of component systems – these could be model components or infrastructure components – and applications that connect some or more of these components together to make a computational model and bundle it with an end-to-end workflow.
